They call it Trader Joe's Vegan Buttery Spread A Butter Alternative. Basically what it is is a form of margarine, aka hardened oil at room temperature. It says right on the package that it can be substituted 1 to 1 for butter and I don't doubt it. When you open the package it looks like a high quality yellow-ish colored butter.
